Now sometimes things just sound too bizarre to be true.
For most of us, especially parents, the sound of a crying baby is distressing and our initial reaction is to try and calm the baby down.
However a yearly festival in Japan called the Naki Zumo festival is where the purpose is to get your baby to cry by allowing Sumo wrestlers hold your baby who try scare them into crying. The more crying babies the better!
If your baby does not cry a referee is called in to the arena and attempts to scare them to start crying by wearing traditional masks and making loud noises.
As odd as this sounds, it is believed that the babies that have been entered in to the competition benefit by having evil spirits warded off and that it brings good health to the babies.
The baby that has cried the loudest or the most is the winner and at thend of the competition is displayed to the crowd.
The Naki Zumo festival runs along with 'National Childrens Day'. Appently parents pay up to £70 to participate in this annual event.
